Inside an AI Workshop: Ideas, Friction and Perspectives — GMK* Workshop

Tasarımcılar, akademisyenler, sektör profesyonelleri ve farklı alanlardan üreticilerle aynı masada oturup yapay zekânın tasarıma, üretim süreçlerine ve karar alma biçimlerimize etkisini konuşmak gerçekten ilham vericiydi.

Öncelikle böyle bir ortamda bir araya gelmemize vesile olan Furkan Şahin’e tekrar teşekkür eder, doğum gününü yeniden kutlarım. Gerçekten çok değerli insanlarla aynı masa etrafında buluşup tek bir konu üzerine birlikte düşünmek oldukça farklı ve ilham verici bir deneyimdi.

Commencis’ten Sertan Arığ ve Trendyol’dan Cenk Yılmaz, Ece Gündoğdu ayrıca Freelance deneyimleriyle Mete Eraydın, Tuğba Işık ve tabii ki Loodos ekibimizden Seymen Şimşek ile farklı kültürleri, deneyimleri ve bakış açılarını ekrandan uzaklaşıp aynı masa üzerinde çarpıştırmak gerçekten heyecan vericiydi :)

Çalıştay boyunca gözlemlediğim davranışlar, alınan kararlar ve ekiplerin problem çözme biçimleri aslında iş hayatında her gün karşılaştığımız dinamiklerin küçük bir yansıması gibiydi. Kimi zaman verilen kapsamın dışına çıkılması, kimi zaman ana problemden uzaklaşıldığının fark edilmesi ya da farklı bakış açılarının süreci bambaşka yönlere taşıması oldukça tanıdıktı.

İş yapma perspektifinden baktığımızda ise çalıştayın yalnızca yapay zekâ odağında kalmadığını; ekiplerin düşünme biçimlerini, karar alma reflekslerini ve birlikte üretme kültürünü görünür hale getiren daha büyük bir resim sunduğunu düşünüyorum.

Bence yapay zekâyı sadece “yerimize geçecek bir teknoloji” olarak görmek konuyu eksik okumak oluyor. Asıl değerli tarafı; düşünme biçimimizi genişletmesi, görünmeyen ihtimalleri görünür hale getirmesi ve üretim süreçlerinde yeni yollar açabilmesi. Konu oldukça somut olmasına rağmen, her bireyin probleme yaklaşım biçimi farklı yolların ve tamamen farklı sonuçların ortaya çıkmasına neden oluyordu.

Özellikle çalıştay boyunca aynı konuya farklı ekiplerin bambaşka perspektiflerden yaklaşmasını görmek bunu çok net hissettirdi. Aynı probleme verilen farklı tepkiler, aslında insan düşüncesinin hâlâ sürecin merkezinde olduğunu tekrar gösteriyor.

Bu ortak düşünme alanını yaratan GMK’ya, organizasyonda emeği geçen herkese ve gün boyunca aynı masada fikir ürettiğimiz tüm katılımcılara teşekkür ederim.

I recently had the opportunity to participate in the “Design and Artificial Intelligence” workshop organized by GMK.

I’ve always found it incredibly valuable when people from different disciplines come together around the same topic. This workshop reflected that perfectly, with 5 different tables, 5 different approaches, and an intense yet inspiring idea-generation process built around a single shared subject.

Sitting at the same table with designers, academics, industry professionals, and creators from different fields to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on design, production processes, and decision-making was truly inspiring.

First of all, I’d like to thank Furkan Şahin once again for bringing us together in such an environment, and wish him a happy birthday again. Being around so many valuable people and collectively thinking about a single topic around the same table was a truly different and inspiring experience.

It was especially exciting to bring together different cultures, experiences, and perspectives away from screens and onto the same table with Sertan Arığ, Cenk Yılmaz, Ece Gündoğdu, freelance professionals Mete Eraydın and Tuğba Işık, and of course Seymen Şimşek from our Loodos team :)

Throughout the workshop, the behaviors I observed, the decisions being made, and the ways teams approached problem-solving felt like a small reflection of the dynamics we encounter every day in working life. At times, teams moved beyond the given scope, while at other moments they realized they had drifted away from the core problem. Different perspectives often carried the process into completely unexpected directions, all of which felt very familiar.

From a broader work and collaboration perspective, I think the workshop extended far beyond just artificial intelligence. It also revealed the ways teams think, their decision-making reflexes, and the culture of producing ideas together.

In my opinion, seeing artificial intelligence merely as “a technology that will replace us” is an incomplete way of understanding it. Its real value lies in expanding the way we think, making invisible possibilities visible, and opening up entirely new paths within production processes. Even though the topic itself was quite concrete, each individual’s approach to the problem led to entirely different directions and outcomes.

What made this especially clear throughout the workshop was seeing how different teams approached the same topic from completely different perspectives. The different reactions to the same problem once again showed that human thinking still remains at the center of the process.

I’d like to thank GMK for creating this shared thinking space, everyone involved in organizing the event, and all the participants we spent the day exchanging ideas with around the same table.
